Center for Pharmacoinformatics and Outcomes Research

The Center for Pharmacoinformatics and Outcomes Research seeks to improve the provision of health care through research that establishes the most safe, effective, and cost-effective delivery of medications. To characterize the relationships between therapeutic drug use and important clinical and patient-focused outcomes, the Center integrates state-of-the-art informatics technology with the traditional fields of clinical therapeutics, epidemiology, decision modeling, economics, and statistics.  The Center has strong collaborative ties with the UPMC and other regional healthcare Institutes.  At its disposal are vast information technology resources, including a medical data repository that is indexed and searchable on every word for over a million patient records.  The combined strengths of faculty scientific expertise, informatics technology, and local and regional healthcare affiliations make the Center for Pharmacoinformatics and Outcomes Research uniquely positioned to provide innovative solutions to today’s healthcare problems.
