History of the Pharmacodynamic Research Center (PRC)

As a direct result of research regarding the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of benzodiazepines conducted during 1982-84, the Pharmacodynamic Research Center (PRC) was established in 1984 with pharmaceutical company support. The Steering Committee consisted of Patricia D. Kroboth, PhD Randy P. Juhl, PhD and Randall B. Smith, PhDFrank J. Kroboth III, MD was the Medical Director, and Susan Price was the Administrator. These individuals continue to work together and provide the framework for ongoing research. Initially sponsored exclusively by what was then known as The Upjohn Company, funding is now derived from a variety of industry and government sources, including NIH.
