“Take A Health Professional To The People ”, Partnership with Pitt Center For Minority Health

In 2004 the Center for Minority Health invited the School of Pharmacy to participate in their innovative annual outreach initiative to provide health services to local minority communities by going out to places where members naturally congregate. Faculty and students from the School joined other health professionals at nine barber shops and beauty salons to provide health screenings, education, and most importantly to engage in building the trust of community members.  In the past two years the Center for Minority Health highlighted the essential role played by pharmacists in identifying problems related to medication management and educating people to manage their medications and to improve the quality of their lives.
