Francis A Balog is an Instructor, Department of Pharmacy and Therapeutics, University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He received a BS in Pharmacy from Duquesne University and an MBA from Golden Gate University. He currently is the pharmacy manager at the Butler VA Healthcare System.
Mr. Balog’s practice has focused on the administrative aspects of ambulatory care pharmacy and primary care medicine. He has helped establish the Community Based Outpatient Clinic(CBOC) program at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Additionally he has helped establish the Drug Use and Adverse Drug Event Reporting programs at the same healthcare system.
In his current position, Mr. Balog has been active in improving patient safety through the increased reporting of medication errors and close calls and Adverse Drug Reactions.
Mr. Balog is an Army Veteran, having served as a pharmacist for nearly 23 years in the Army in the active and reserve components.
