Shelby L. Corman, Pharm.D., is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Specialist in Drug Information at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She received her PharmD degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy in 2002, after which she completed an ASHP-accredited Specialty Residency in Drug Information at the University of Pittsburgh Drug Information Center in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).

Dr. Corman’s practice is centered in the practice of evidence-based medicine and application of clinical trials results to patient care. She is an active member of the University of Pittsburgh Institutional Review Board, UPMC Presbyterian Formulary Subcommittee, and Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committees of the UPMC Presbyterian, Health Plan, and Health System. She has developed numerous formulary reviews and practice guidelines, as well as an innovative tool for grading a body of evidence in support of a therapeutic recommendation. Dr. Corman works with the Drug Use and Disease State Management (DUDSM) Program team to promote the safe and therapeutically appropriate use of medications at the UPMC.

Consistent with her practice, Dr. Corman's primary teaching focus is evidence-based medicine and biomedical literature evaluation, particularly biostatistics. She is active in didactic teaching related to these topics in the Professional Inquiry/Literature Evaluation modules in both the Profession of Pharmacy 4 and 5 courses at the school. Additionally, Dr. Corman is dedicated to residency training, serving as a preceptor for resident formulary reviews, research projects, and presentations, and as the director director of the PGY-2 Residency in Drug Information at UPMC.

Dr. Corman is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and the American Pharmacists Association. She also serves as a chapter co-advisor for the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) at the School of Pharmacy.
