Dr. Kirschling completed his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin in 2004; completed a combined residency with Masters of Science degree in Health-System Pharmacy Administration in 2006; completed Six Sigma Green Belt training from Motorola University in 2008; and is pursuing a Master of Studies degree in Law from the University of Pittsburgh.  At UPMC he is responsible for operational oversight of central and operating room pharmacies as well as quality improvement programs, dashboard and scorecards, storage and security of medication including responsibility for controlled substances, and optimization of automation and workflow.  On a national level, he serves on the ASHP Council on Pharmacy Management as well as ASHP Midyear Meeting Programming Committee for the Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers; he is Editor of the 2009 Joint Commission Resources book "Storing and Securing Medications 2nd Ed."  In addition to commitments to state national and state organizations, he is dedicated to the teaching and mentoring of both students and residents and serves as adjunct instructor to the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.
