Current Research:

Current Research Description: I am interested in the mechanisms that contribute to brain aging and cognitive decline. Current studies are focused on the effects of ovariectomy and estrogen replacement on the function of specific neural systems. The goal is to understand by what mechanisms estrogen replacement can be used to reduce the risk and severity of age-related cognitive decline. My work specifically focuses on GPR30, a novel estrogen receptor through which estrogens may enhance cholinergic function and cognitive performance.
