Program: PhD Track: Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences Advisor: Raman Venkataramanan, PhD
I have a background in pharmaceutical sciences with a major in pharmacology followed by a work experience for 6 years in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics research laboratories. During my pharmacology dissertation, I worked with a rat model of cerebral ischemia. During my employment in pharmaceutical industry, I worked in preclinical small molecule drug development and performed a wide variety of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetic experiments along with analytical techniques like LCMS.
In addition, I successfully managed a few projects with respect to PK/metabolism data generation and also collaborated with other researchers to produce a few peer-reviewed publications. My current position has provided me an opportunity to witness clinical pharmacy and clinical care environments and critically evaluate translational projects in parallel to required training for hypothesis generation and planning of research.
We are interested in understanding and addressing the variability with drug disposition and drug effects in a special population (transplantation subjects). Our long term research goal is to address pharmacology related knowledge gaps and facilitate a better clinical therapy for transplant patients.
