Casey Peters, PharmD, BCPS practices in the Emergency Department at UPMC Shadyside, where she co-precepts pharmacy students and residents interested in emergency medicine.
Dr. Peters received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at UPMC Mercy. Following residency, she assisted with implementation of unit-based decentralized pharmacy services at UPMC Shadyside, as well as working with operating room/anesthesia services. Dr. Peters developed and implemented pharmacy services in the Emergency Department in March 2011, and justified continuation and expansion of the service in 2012. An on-site clinical pharmacist is now available in the Emergency Department 11 hours per day, seven days per week.
Dr. Peters’ practice interests include treatment of toxicological emergencies and optimization of medication use in the emergency medicine setting. She enjoys providing education to her colleagues in pharmacy and emergency medicine. Casey also enjoys triathlon, Crossfit, skiing, and Pittsburgh sports.
