Dr. Patel is a Faculty Instructor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Rohan Laboratory in the School of Pharmacy. He obtained Bachelors in Pharmacy from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, MS in Pharmacy from The University of Georgia, Athens, and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy. After completion of his Ph.D., he joined Dr. Rohan's group as a Postdoctoral Associate.

Dr. Patel's current primary research focus is in women's health. He is working on the development and scale up of acceptable and affordable pharmaceutical products for prevention of unintended pregnancy, and sexually transmitted infections including HIV and herpes. He is also conducting research on novel manufacturing methods for polymeric thin films including hot-melt extrusion and 3D printing.
