


School of Pharmacy faculty members Sandra Kane-Gill, Amy Seybert, and Pamela Smithburger (pictured left to right), along with former pharmacy resident Dan Ford, Class of 2009–10 (not pictured), received the Society of Critical Care Medicine 2011 Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology Section Technology Patient Safety Award. The award recognizes their use of simulation-based learning to reduce medication errors in critically ill patients. The group will receive the award at the Annual Critical Care Congress in Houston, Texas, in February 2012.

Amy Calabrese Donihi, School of Pharmacy associate professor of pharmacy and therapeutics, was an invited speaker at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) 72nd Scientific Sessions held in Philadelphia, Pa., June 8-12, 2012. Donihi spoke at a symposium session titled “New Directions for Diabetes Education in the Inpatient Setting.” The title of her presentation was “Preparing Diabetes Patients for Hospital Discharge—A Standardized Team Approach.”
