Terri Newman is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy and Therapeutics at University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy where she specializes in utilizing real-world data to evaluate health and economic outcomes. Her current research focuses on the evaluation of pharmaceutical outcomes in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) where she received a grant to explore barriers to the use of disease modifying treatments among patients and providers. Prior to her professional appointment, she earned her PharmD from Butler University School of Pharmacy and practiced as a community pharmacist for a few years. She then transitioned into a research career and completed a Health Economics and Outcomes Research fellowship with UPMC Health Plan. Concurrently, she completed a Master of Science in Health Services Research from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health.
Terri’s passions center around leveraging real-world data to address important gaps in treatment use with a special emphasis on addressing pharmacotherapy treatment disparities and inequities in sickle cell disease.
