Since 2012, each spring semester, our entire PittPharmacy P2 student class simulates a “Community Pharmacy Network” in Western Pennsylvania. We partner nearly 114 students within over 75 community pharmacies in our region. Students are responsible for working with the community pharmacy teams to identify patient and practice needs, then to conduct patient care and outreach in these pharmacies.
Patient Care Provided:
Our students with their pharmacist preceptors have cared for over 4,500 patients each year. Students work with their community pharmacists to ensure patients receive optimal medication-related care, provide health information, conduct health screenings, and conduct comprehensive and targeted medication reviews.
Our students attend the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association Legislative Day each spring to advocate for patients and the profession. On average, students conduct over 80 legislative visits.
