The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy provides tuition scholarships to most students in the PhD program. Students with an undergraduate or a master's degree are employed as teaching assistants (TAs), teaching fellows (TFs), and graduate student researchers (GSRs) with an annual stipend of $22,598/yr*. After the fall semester of the third year, students are supported by research grants and competitive fellowships. Alternatively, students with a PharmD degree can be employed as a Clinical Scientist Assistant (CSA) and receive annual compensation in excess of $30,000/yr. Tuition scholarships, TA, TF, and CSA support require maintaining a QPA of 3.0 or better and are contingent upon students complying with all PhD program requirements and demonstrating satisfactory progress toward earning a PhD degree. (See Milestones). Failure to do so will result in withdrawal of the scholarship and TA or TF support, and/or dismissal from the PhD program.
