The goal of this program track is to develop individuals with expertise in the areas of drug delivery and drug targeting as independent investigators. In this program students will investigate chemical and biophysical technologies for optimal delivery of complex new drug and gene therapies to their site of therapeutic action. Students will gain the skills required for the development of targeted drug therapies ranging from small molecules to proteins to genes. Graduate research experience incorporates the fundamentals required for design of both traditional drug delivery systems and complex state of the art systems such as those for gene delivery.
