The program consists of a sequence of required core courses, elective courses, faculty-directed research rotations, and an original research project leading to a final thesis or dissertation. Students may select to specialize in clinical or basic research in any of the four focus areas. In each focus area there is a core of faculty, staff and graduate students involved in collaborative research projects. Graduates of the program hold positions in academia, industry, and governmental agencies.
Relatively unique among graduate training, the Clinical Pharmaceutical Scientist Program is a long-standing program within the School of Pharmacy. With its origins in the 1980’s, students are involved in human studies as part of their thesis research. Students may participate with this program in addition to their chosen focus area.
