The PhD program in Pharmaceutical Sciences is pleased to accept applications from highly qualified, international students. International students are eligible for financial support, based on need. Students who receive financial support from their home institution or their native government may receive special consideration.

The requirements for admission are similar to those for U.S. students. At a minimum, students must have earned an undergraduate degree equivalent to a B.A. or B.S. degree  in an appropriate scientific discipline from a U.S. institution of higher learning. Students with an advanced degree (M.A. or M.S.), or who have spent at least one year studying at a U.S. institution of higher learning, may receive special consideration. All students should indicate in the Statement of Purpose what their future scientific plans are and with whom they would like to work in the PhD Program. In addition all applicants must submit letters of reference, and scores from the GRE and TOEFL exams. Upon receipt of a complete application, the student’s academic credentials are forwarded to the University’s Office of International Services, where the credentials are evaluated for equivalence to credentials from a U.S. institution of higher learning.

Once accepted into the program, detailed information regarding the VISA application, requirements upon entering the United States, and requirements for pursuing an advanced degree at the University of Pittsburgh, are forwarded to the student by the University’s Office of International Services (OIS). For further information, contact OIS at http://www.ois.pitt.edu/sevisfeereimbursement.html.
