Pharmacy Residency at the School of Pharmacy

The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy offers pharmacy and specialized pharmacy residencies in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), the UPMC Health Plan, Caremark, and Rite Aid. It is through these partnerships that the Residency Program has grown in national reputation.  Residents distinguish themselves through extensive experience gained in patient care, teaching, and research.

Pharmacy residencies are a 12-month postgraduate training program that center on the development of knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to promote rational drug therapy and direct patient care services.  Specialized residency programs include an emphasis on optimizing patient outcomes in a focused area of healthcare and a commitment to prepare a new generation for leadership within the specialty area of the pharmacy profession.
