Ronald Heisel received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He then completed an accredited American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Pharmacy Practice Residency at UPMC Shadyside.
Dr. Heisel is currently a unit-based pharmacist at UPMC Shadyside, providing decentralized pharmacy services to internal medicine, surgical oncology, cardiology, and critical care areas. He currently co-precepts pharmacy students and pharmacy residents in these areas. He also enjoys interacting and educating providers at all stages in their professional development.
In addition to his various practice areas, Dr. Heisel’s practice interests also include infectious diseases, optimization of anticoagulation/anticoagulation reversal, and medication safety. Outside of the health system, he enjoys weight lifting, running, and Pittsburgh sports.
