Madalyn Bates, RPh, is the Lead Pharmacist, Information Systems, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian-Shadyside, Shadyside Campus. Her analyst skills include hospital information systems design, development, management, support, and optimization. She has collaborated with automation vendors to provide beta-testing of hardware and software for new product innovation. Additional responsibilities consist of formulary management, validation and verification of pharmacy charge cost-capture procedures, and the instruction of health-care professionals in computerized order-entry systems. Madalyn has mentored numerous pharmacy students throughout her professional career. She earned her BS in Pharmacy at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1978.
