Elektra Maridaki

PhD Candidate

Elektra Maridaki is a PhD student in the Biochemical Pharmacology track under the mentorship of Dr. Simone Brixius-Anderko. Her research focuses on the role of cytochrome P450 enzymes in disease pathogenesis, while she is currently working on the expression and purification of a redox protein system. The redox protein system Elektra is working with is important for elucidating the mechanism and function of CYP123 P450 enzyme from Mycobacterium abscessus - a pathogen, closely related to Mycobacterium tuberculosis characterized by high antibiotic resistance. In her free time, Elektra enjoys running and dancing traditional Greek dances.
