Elyse Hensley

Elyse Hensley is a Pharmaceutical Sciences master's student on the pharmaceutics track in the laboratory of Dr. Lisa Rohan in the Center for Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a certificate in Global Health in 2025, having conducted research in plant cellular and molecular biology.

She is currently investigating a plant-derived, broad-spectrum antiviral biologic through preformulation characterization studies with the goal of developing alternative, on-demand prophylactic options for emerging infectious diseases. Her research supports the development of this drug into a final product for preventing the spread of many communicable diseases. Her research interests include infectious disease therapeutics, plant-derived pharmaceuticals, global health, and translational research.

Elyse holds memberships in the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, Sigma Xi, and Phi Beta Kappa. She is also a LIGAND student ambassador, a student representative for the Graduate Program Curriculum Committee, and the secretary for the University of Pittsburgh student chapter of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.

Following graduation, she plans to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
