Hello everyone! My name is Emily Birmingham, and I am one of the PGY1 Pharmacy Residents at St. Margaret on the Ambulatory Care Track. I am extremely interested in teaching and scholarship, as I hope to become a faculty member at a college of pharmacy some day! I would love to teach ambulatory care topics or coordinate a lab and/or precept at an outpatient clinic. I have many patient care interests, but some areas I particularly love are dermatology, diabetes, and infectious diseases. I chose St. Margaret specifically because of the robust Faculty Development Fellowship, as well as the heavy emphasis on ambulatory care/geriatrics but still many opportunities for inpatient rotations. Also, the people here are simply the best! I am really looking forward to working on interprofessional teams and making lasting relationships with my coresidents and preceptors. I also can't wait to begin our outpatient clinic rotations and get to work so closely with patients. Some things about me outside of my pharmacy interests is that I love walking, trying new restaurants in the Pittsburgh area, taking care of my Cavapoo, Paczki, and playing video games with my husband. I also like to do a daily crossword, and I collect vinyl!
