Hi! My name is Hillery, and I am a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident at UPMC St. Margaret on the Ambulatory Care Track. My professional interests include diabetes management, cardiology, asthma/COPD, and deprescribing in geriatric patients. During pharmacy school, I was involved in a research project evaluating bleeding rates in patients who developed acute kidney injury while maintained on apixaban versus unfractionated heparin (UFH). I was fortunate to present this work at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting! I was also actively involved in teaching and learning initiatives through Rho Chi and served as President of my school's APhA-ASP chapter, where I further developed my leadership skills.
Outside Interests
Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy trying new restaurants, hiking, reading, watching TV shows (I recently jumped on the Game of Thrones train), and spending time with friends and family. In my free time, you can usually find me walking around and exploring Pittsburgh!
Reason for attending
I chose this residency program because of its collaborative environment with the family medicine residents and the opportunity to early commit to a PGY2 in ambulatory care, which aligns with my long-term career goals. From conversations with previous residents to my experience during the interview process, it was clear that the preceptors and program leadership are truly invested in resident success.
