Martha Ndung'u

Assistant Professor

She is a proud Pitt alumna who obtained her Doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of Pittsburgh with an area of concentration in global health. She went on to complete a primary care residency at the LifeLong federally qualified health care center in Oakland, CA through Touro University and obtained her teaching certificate. She then transitioned into academia and taught practical and case-based courses at the University of Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and precepted at the student-run Clincia Tepati in Sacramento, CA.

In 2023, she returned to Pitt as the Assistant Professor of Global Health and Health Equity and now also serves as the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Ambulatory Care–Global Health residency and Co-Director of Pharmacy Services at the Birmingham Free Clinic, while also co-directing the School’s Area of Concentration in Global Health. Her teaching and scholarship focus on health equity, medication access, global and community-based care for underserved populations, and preparing learners to address social determinants of health in both local and international settings across the pharmacy, nursing, dental and medical schools.
