Samuel Peasah, PhD, RPh, MBA

Adjunct Faculty Member

Samuel Peasah is an Adjunct Associate Professor and has been with UPMC Insurance Services since 2019. Currently, he is a director at the Center for Value-based Pharmacy Initiatives within the Center for High Value HealthCare, UPMC Health Plan. He precepts University of Pittsburgh PharmD APPE students, residents, and fellows in health outcomes research. He supports the external collaborative work of the center. He also brings expertise to value-based contract negotiations, implementation, assessment, and reporting, and other quality-of care outcomes evaluation at the UPMC Health Plan.

Sam is a registered pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Kwame Nkrumah University College of Pharmacy, Ghana. He has additional training as a health services researcher (PhD, 2011) and business analyst (MBA, 2005) from University of Florida, and as a health economics research post-doctoral fellow (CDC, 2013). Prior to coming to UPMC, he was faculty and director for the Center for Outcomes Research and Education at Mercer University College of Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia. He has precepted and published with several pharmacy students and residents. His research interests include health economics, pharmacoepidemiology, and impact of policy changes and interventions on health outcomes.
