Sarah is a PhD Candidate in Pharmaceutics in the lab of Dr. Kerry Empey. Her dissertation research is focused on the development an intranasal vaccine for young children against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). She is predominantly focused on improving retention in the upper respiratory tract and induction of a strong, durable immune response for long term protection against RSV in these young children. Sarah has received the American Association of Immunology Young Investigator award and has published a first author paper on her research. In the future, she plans to enter into industry to continue working on vaccine development against infectious disease in special populations. In her free time, Sarah plays an Irish sport called hurling (which the University of Pittsburgh has a club team!)
