Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacogenomics

The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy offers a 2-year fellowship designed to provide a strong foundation in clinical pharmacogenomics, implementation science, and translational research. Our goal is to train future independent researchers, faculty members, and health system leaders with a solid foundation in pharmacogenomics and precision medicine.

Fellowship Advisors

Fellows will:

  • Clustering diagramConduct research with the objective of advancing the science and application of pharmacogenomics and precision medicine. Specifically, in the areas of implementation science; translational and clinical outcomes research; return of results and pharmacogenomics education; and clinical informatics. 
     
  • Participate in ongoing clinical and research initiatives including Pittsburgh Pharmacogenomics (PittPGx) programs currently deployed across the UPMC system including the Clinical Pharmacogenomics Service, the PreCISE-Rx initiative, the Primary Care Precision Medicine Clinic, the Test2Learn training program, the Pharmacogenomics Center of Excellence as well as nationally-funded pharmacogenomics research projects.
     
  • Be mentored by University of Pittsburgh and UPMC leaders within the School of Pharmacy, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the Institute for Precision Medicine. 
     
  • Gain core learning experiences through mentored research and development (50% effort), patient care (25% effort), and scholarship/graduate coursework (25% effort). 
     
  • Have the option to enroll in a Pharmacogenomics Certificate program or a Clinical/Translational Research certificate program from the University of Pittsburgh. Fellows may also apply to enter the MS or PhD program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.
     
  • Receive an annual stipend and health insurance.

Eligibility

Applicants should possess a PharmD degree (residency training preferred but not required), eligibility for pharmacist licensure in PA, and a passion for translational and/or implementation science.
